**Aiden Jones nearly stumbles over and slams into the wall, groaning angrily.

Character backstory:
Laura was born in 1990 in a small village called Birkenhead, which was across the river from Liverpool, UK.
She was born together with her sister Susan, born in the same year, who she had always had a good relationship with, and who she always could rely on.
When both of them were in high school they did average, never getting absurdly high grades, but they made it through all their classes.
One day, their father got involved in a car crash, causing him to die in the hospital due to the internal bleeding several hours later. Laura, Susan and their mother were devastated, they suddenly had no income to rely on anymore seeing as her mother didn't have a job, and Laura and Susan weren't old enough to start working yet.
They were forced to move to a smaller flat in Oxton, several miles down the road. Their mother managed to get a job as a cleaner in a local school, which didn't pay much, but it was enough to keep the three of them alive for the time being.
As the 7 hour war started, Laura initially panicked, her mother had taught her to drive a car several weeks before, as she had no money to pay for actual driving lessons for the both of them. The three of them packed as much of their stuff as they could, driving around in search of a safe haven they could stay at, eventually they ended up in an abandoned house several miles down the road of their own, which they managed to hide in for a day or two, though eventually there was no escaping and they were all temporarily moved to City 14, awaiting transfers to different cities.
Their mother was transferred out after several days, both Laura and Susan still don't know what happened to her. Several weeks later the two of them got split up, Laura was transported to City 18 and Susan was moved to an unknown city. Laura couldn't adapt to the city at first, making the vital mistake of opening a door she wasn't allowed to open on her first day, causing her to be beaten and detained for three cycles. After this detainment she swore that she didn't want to get into any more trouble and tried helping out wherever she could.
After several weeks of watching the units from her apartment window she started to admire them and their ways of keeping the city safe and clean. Laura started reporting crimes and wrongs that were happening in the city, hoping she could gain at least some form of respect.
The thought of becoming a unit passed her mind several times, but she never considered herself to be worthy of such a position, she thought she was too weak to be even considered useful to the Union, yet she continued do everything she could to help out the city.
After a couple of days she decided that she might as well try, she was hoping the Union could help her improve and help her become a stronger person, allowing her to do more for the city.
